One of my best friends named Thor Lindsay has passed away and I did write a post yesterday about saying goodbye to Thor, but only Thor's body has died so I have changed my mind about saying goodbye.
Here is the post I wrote about Thor yesterday for anyone that may have missed it ...
I have known Thor Lindsay since we were 8 years old where we both lived in the Midwest. Around 1974 we both went to Portland Oregon to live.
For anyone that never knew Thor he was full of energy and loved all types of music, mostly music from the 60's and 70's.
Both Thor and I had huge record collections and would go to every concert we could get tickets for.
Around the late 70's Thor played in a punk band called The Combos and at the top of the page is a photo I took in 1979 with Thor playing guitar with the stripped shirt.
The bass guitar he was playing I had sold him for $100 dollars and it was a Wyman Bass designed by Bill Wyman from the group The Rolling Stones.
After living in Portland with Thor for around 5 years I moved back to the Midwest and Thor continued collecting records, and played a huge part of the music industry.
After moving back to the Midwest back in the early 1980's Thor would mail me 45 collector picture sleeve's, mostly David Bowie 45's from Germany, Japan and other countries.
These 45's are very rare and I still have all the records Thor gave me from years gone by.
Thor Lindsay was a "Music Man" and his heart was in it from a very young age until his recent passing.
But even after Thor's earthly body has passed only days ago I still find his presence around me. I have lost one of the best friends through out my life and I have not found a reason to cry, and why?
Because Thor is still around me within the music I listen to everyday, always has been and always will be. And my memories of us living in Portland where the greatest times of my life are in my mind it seems like only yesterday.
I have such found memories of living in Portland that even to this day I tell people how beautiful the state of Oregon is and when I lived in Portland.
Whenever I think about Portland Oregon I think of my friend Thor Lindsay. I only wish I had gone to visit him in Portland before he passed. I am finishing a commercial project I am working on in San Jose California and could have flown up to see him around the end of July or beginning of August.
A few weeks to late ... ;o(
But like I have mentioned in this post, Thor is with me in spirit and is also with many other loved family and friends and we (will not) forget about you my friend and ...
