Female Moose Models for Alaska Bob in Anchorage Alaska

Alaska Bob aka Robert Swetz was hiking along some hiking trails in Anchorage Alaska today.

About 2 miles into the hike I looked down the trail and saw this huge female moose standing on the side of the trail eating vegetation from the tree branches

She was standing around 20 feet from me and I was wondering how close I should get to her, because she looked like she weighed about 1000 pounds.

I would hate to have her charge me because I was to close to her. All I had was my old iPhone 4 and had left my iPhone 6+ in the car.

As I walked closer to her I saw her staring at me, so I tried to get some small trees between the two of us in case she started charging me.

It was very exciting and my heart stared pumping faster as I got closer to her.

I was able to get around 5 feet from her before she started walking away, and as I walked away I looked back to make sure she didn't turn around and follow me.

And there she was eating from the branches again.

I will be going for another hike tomorrow and will be sure to bring my iPhone 6+ in case I run into another moose.

Beware of Bears while hiking the trails of Alaska by Robert Swetz

For 2 years now Robert Swetz aka Alaska Bob - Vegas Bob has been hiking the trails of Alaska, around Anchorage, Palmer, Homer, Wasilla, Seward, Denali National Park, etc.

While Robert hikes the trails, he is very prepared will a round bell attached to his belt to create noise while hiking, pepper bear spray, large Bowie knife and Robert is purchasing either a 44 Magnum or a 45 semiautomatic for protection.

Bear attacks are not real common but if hikers come around a sharp corner and startle a mother bear and her cubs, you have a serious problem.

Bears can outrun humans, climb trees and have the power to rip you head off with one swipe of their paw ;o(

Alaska Bob's suggestion would be, "Don't Be a Statistic" be prepared will hiking the trails of Alaska.

And remember ... you are in the Mother Natures Playground and there are more Bear, Moose, Wolf, etc then there are humans.
