New Years Water Festival Myanmar Burma Robert Swetz

Water Festival the (New Years) Celebration in Myanmar started today in Burma.
Robert Swetz has attended Water Festival 3 different times in Myanmar and what a great celebration.

For 7 days the Burmese celebrate New Year by shooting water from stages where musicians perform, stages full of locals with hoses in their hands shooting water all over cars passing by and more.

And it's not just one stage that the celebration takes place, there are over hundreds and hundreds of stages and areas located across the city of Yangon (Rangoon) and surrounding cities celebrating Water Festival in the whole country of Myanmar ;o)

Who's getting ready for the Water Festival Celebration in Myanmar Burma in April or 2016.
Now is the time to start preparing for the event, because April will come faster than you think ;o/

Here is a one great video of several that I took on my visit to Myanmar in 2010, and I also attended Water Festival in 2008.

All I can say is these Burmese know how to have fun and celebrate.

And talk about getting wet ...
The Water Festival Celebration in Myanmar last for 5 long days, 5 long days of getting wet in extreme humid temperatures is a great way to celebrate the New Years ;o)
Here are sveral photographs that I took on my visit in 2010 and two of the photos where taken on stage.

So for anyone planning a trip to Myanmar in 2016 or any year for that matter, try to plan your trip around the 1st and 2nd week of April.

Water Festival Celebration April 11th 2015 Myanmar Burma by Robert Swetz

Water Festival in Myanmar falls on the 2nd week of April every year. Water Festival a New Year Celebration that last approx 5 days.

All the cities and towns close all their businesses for 5 days and the whole country of Myanmar is full of music on stages, water sports and so much more.

Robert Swetz aka Vegas Bob has had the opportunity to celebrate Water Festival in Myanmar 2 different years. Vegas Bob rode in the back of flatbed trucks with local Burmese while other Burmese sprayed water from hundreds of different stages through the cities and towns.

Vegas Bob even had the privilege of spraying people from different stages, even one time with a fire hose.

Vegas Bob has been celebrating New Years celebrations in America all his life. Celebrating New Years in America is "Nothing" compared to Water Festival in Myanmar.

Water Festival is so much fun that Vegas Bob looks forward to the next time he has the opportunity to celebrate New Years in Myanmar sometime in the future.
