Female Moose Models for Alaska Bob in Anchorage Alaska

Alaska Bob aka Robert Swetz was hiking along some hiking trails in Anchorage Alaska today.

About 2 miles into the hike I looked down the trail and saw this huge female moose standing on the side of the trail eating vegetation from the tree branches

She was standing around 20 feet from me and I was wondering how close I should get to her, because she looked like she weighed about 1000 pounds.

I would hate to have her charge me because I was to close to her. All I had was my old iPhone 4 and had left my iPhone 6+ in the car.

As I walked closer to her I saw her staring at me, so I tried to get some small trees between the two of us in case she started charging me.

It was very exciting and my heart stared pumping faster as I got closer to her.

I was able to get around 5 feet from her before she started walking away, and as I walked away I looked back to make sure she didn't turn around and follow me.

And there she was eating from the branches again.

I will be going for another hike tomorrow and will be sure to bring my iPhone 6+ in case I run into another moose.

Beautiful Photographs of Alaska by Robert 'Alaska Bob' Swetz

For anyone that has never had the chance to visit Alaska you are really missing out. No matter what season it is in Alaska it is always beautiful.
Here is a photograph of Anchorage that I took from the bluff of Point Woronzof near the Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport.

I have been hiking and driving around many parts of Alaska now for 2 months and what I have noticed is, it's not as cold and miserable as everyone might think.

Within the first 2 weeks of December when I arrived in Anchorage, my body had already adjusted to the cooler temperatures.

The only difference when I go out and about is wearing long paints and a hooded sweatshirt. I haven't had to wear gloves, winter boots, and or large parka winter coats like everyone thinks.

The photo (above) was taken in Palmer Alaska and one week ago and the temperature was 39 degrees, sunny and beautiful.
