Halibut Fishing Capital of the World Homer Alaska by Robert Vegas Bob Swetz

Robert Swetz finally made his second visit to Homer Alaska last Sunday since his last visit in 2001.

Robert had forgotten after all these years just how beautiful and relaxing Homer is, and really enjoyed his visit.

In fact Robert liked his visit so much that he is searching for a small home or condo for future retirement in the next 4-5 years.

These condos located in the photo (above) are located at the end of "Homer Spit" located on the beach.

Robert is also planning a fishing trip with some family and friends during the end of June or beginning of July 2015.

Homer Alaska is the Halibut Fishing Capital of the World and Robert is very excited about the fishing trip he is planning on a charter boat out of Homer next year.

Price is around $300 dollars, the charter supplies the license, poles & bait. People fishing are allowed to keep 2 Halibut fish and the Halibut can reach as large as 300 lbs.

Homer Alaska Kenai Peninsula Robert Vegas Bob Swetz

Vegas Bob's first visit to Homer Alaska was back in the year 2001. Over the weekend of Nov 30th & Dec 1st Robert Swetz spent several days again in Homer Alaska.

Robert had forgotten how beautiful Homer was because it had been so long since his last visit. And after spending a few days in Homer Robert is also looking for a small home or condo for retirement where he can spend the summer months.

Vegas Bob stopped at this 110 year old Russian Church on his way to Homer Alaska last Sunday. And this was very exciting for Vegas Bob because he has ancestors that are from parts of Russia.

And to think this church along with other churches and homes all through Alaska were inhabited by Russians vs Americans when Alaska was owned by the country of Alaska not very long ago ;o)

And what I also found very interesting was the way the CROSS was shaped vs just a regular Cross.

Take a real close look at the cross on top of the church steeple and the crosses by the tombstones.
