Vegas Bob will be Home Alone for Christmas

Christmas is coming up very quick this year and Robert Swetz aka Vegas Bob will not be going to Alaska to be with his wife and boys. Robert will not be going to Las Vegas to be with his brother and family, and will not be going to the Midwest to spend Christmas with his father and other relatives.

So what is Vegas Bob going to do for Christmas 2016? 

I don't know!

Vegas Bob is trying to get some co-workers to invite him over for a Christmas lunch or dinner.

Or Vegas Bob was thinking of going to Phil's Fish Market at Moss Landing to have some Halibut, Crab if it's open Christmas Day.

But eat alone on Christmas Day, that would kind of be lonely ;o(

Maybe someone might see Vegas Bob eating alone on Christmas Day some where and ask him to join them.

Vegas Bob will be staying in San Jose California for the 4 day Christmas weekend and if anyone has a extra chair at the table for a Christmas meal, you know how to reach him ...

In 2 weeks Robert Vegas Bob Swetz will be fishing in Alaska

Robert Swetz is getting very excited because in 2 weeks he will be with his family in Alaska fishing halibut in Homer Alaska.

I remember several months ago when I was booking a round trip flight from San Jose to Anchorage thinking I would have to wait forever, but now it's only 2 weeks away.

I am sure hoping the weather is going to be nice and sunny on my visit to Alaska because my wife mentioned it has been raining up in Anchorage everyday for almost 2 weeks.

But even if it's raining I am going to have a great time and will be trying to catch that record halibut.

Halibut can reach up to 400 lbs and I can't even imagine catching one this big. Word has it the best eating halibut are around 85 lbs and I am fishing to eat them so with a family of 6, each person keeping 2 fish this comes out to be a lot of halibut for my family and I to eat ;o)

Halibut Charter Homer Alaska booked by Robert Vegas Bob Swetz

Robert Vegas Bob Swetz just finished booking his halibut charter for 6 people in Homer Alaska, which will take place around the end of August 2016.

Robert Swetz is very excited and is flipping the whole bill on the charter which will be over $1000 dollars.

This price for a charter of 6 people is a smoking deal, they supply the poles, bate, cleaning of the fish, all except flash freezing into one pound vacuumed selling plastic.

Here's the way I see it ...

Alaskan halibut sells for around $25 dollars per pound. There will be 6 adults fishing and the average halibut is around 50 lbs and can reach up to 400 lbs. Now I am looking at it with the average of 50 pound halibut minus 10 lbs of waste is approx. 40 lbs per fish times 6 = 240 lbs of fresh halibut meat.

240 lbs x $25.00 is $6000.00.

Now Vegas Bob wouldn't go out and buy $6000.00 dollars worth of halibut, but the value of fish caught will pay for my round trip flight to Alaska, Charter, Motel, Gas, etc. plus Vegas Bob will be left with $4000.00 worth of halibut in his freezer in Anchorage Alaska ;o)

Vegas Bob fishing halibut end of August in Homer Alaska 2016

That's right Robert Vegas Bob Swetz has already picked his days for his next fishing trip for halibut in Homer Alaska, and has put the days on the calendar at work.

Around the end of August Vegas Bob will be flying from San Jose to Alaska to once again fish halibut with his wife Lin and possibly his 2 sons.

Vegas Bob ate the last of the halibut from his trip last year and it's time to fill that freezer once again with Alaskan halibut ... yummy ;o)

Here is a photo (above) of a halibut Vegas Bob caught last year and the photo (below) is of Vegas Bob getting crazy pulling the frozen halibut out of one of two coolers for his freezer.

And of course last years catch in the new freezer Vegas Bob had to purchase last year for all the halibut Lin and I caught in 2016.

Robert Alaska Bob Swetz and Christmas Holidays in Homer

Robert Alaska Bob Swetz will be spending the Christmas Holidays in Homer Alaska.
Alaska Bob is very excited about getting back to his family in Anchorage Alaska even if the temperatures are cold.

Alaska Bob will be driving down to Homer from Anchorage the day after he arrives, and spending 3-4 days in Homer the Halibut Capital of the World.
Alaska Bob won't be fishing though until June & July of 2016.

After the Christmas spirits are played out in Homer Alaska Robert and his family will head back up to Anchorage and either ski, ride snow machines (snowmobiles) ... the locals of Alaska call them "Snow Machines" ... go figure ;o)
Or we might just do some sledding at one of the main ski resorts. 

So whether Alaska Bob is fishing, taking in the holiday cheer, riding snow machines, skiing or just sliding down the mountain sides, it's going to be fun.
