Here are several photographs of Big Sur California that I have taken over the years with a new fresh video of Pfeiffer State Park with the water fall and beach.

For anyone that has never been to Big Sur California all I can tell you is get you butt out to the Pacific Coast and take a look for yourself.

Big Sur is breath taking and there is so much to see that it might take you a full week just to view the special places like the water falls along the beach at Pfeiffer State Park in the video (below) ;o)

Vegas Bob aka Robert Swetz has been searching for that perfect place for around 30 years of his life.

A place wear he can hang his hat away from the hustle and bustle of the BIG city, traffic, etc.

Robert Swetz has purchased and owned lake lots, river lots and large parcels of acreage but continues to search for that perfect spot he can call home and or retire.

Now some people would say that would be easy by looking at all these beautiful photographs and places that Robert Swetz has had the chance to visit. The problem is with so many places to choose from it creates difficulty.

So here is the catch to the search for that perfect place ...

There has to be Mountains ...

There has to be a ocean ...

There has to be a low population of people ...

The cost of living and or housing has to be reasonable ...

And it has to be that perfect place where Robert Swetz can stay living and never become bored ...

Could there be such a place?

Robert Swetz owns a home in Las Vegas Nevada and this residence is basically for business, and (is not) that perfect place. The perfect place Robert Swetz is searching for will be a place he will spend around 6-7 months per year and then the balance of the year either in the Philippines, Thailand or some exotic place.

Robert Swetz has 2 major places that he may have found that could possibly be that perfect place he has been searching for.

The number 1 place would be Eureka in northern California located in Humboldt County only minutes from the GIANT Redwoods, located on the ocean, very low population and the housing is very reasonable.

And the number 2 place that is looking very good at the moment while searching would be Homer Alaska with mountains, ocean, low population and somewhat reasonable housing costs.

The main reason for choosing these two places is ...

Robert Swetz has been visiting the Redwood Trees in Humboldt County for around 30 years and continues to visit to this day, he cannot get enough of their beauty.  

And Homer Alaska is yet another place that Robert Swetz cannot get enough of or Alaska in general.

Bixby Creek Bridge Big Bur California by Robert Swetz

 The Bixby Creek Bridge located in Big Sur California is a very famous bridge that was build in 1932.
 Residents of the Big Sur area were virtually cut off during winter due to the often impassable Old Coast Road that led 11 miles inland. 
At its completion, the bridge was built under budget for $199,861 (equivalent to $3.5 million in 2015) and was the longest concrete arch span at 360 feet on the California State Highway System.
It is one of the tallest single-span concrete bridges in the world.
The Bixby Creek Bridge is one of the most photographed bridges in the state of California

Robert Swetz had the privilege of driving down Hwy 1 along the Pacific Coast line in Big Sur California yesterday.
I have been visiting Big Sur California which is approx 40 miles south of Monterey now since the late 70's as a teenager.
There really is no place on earth that is like Big Sur California.

These photographs that I took on Saturday 9/17/2016 are very nice, colorful and give the viewers an idea of just home beautiful Big Sur really is.
But viewing Big Sur is person through the eyes is so much more beautiful, the cool sea breeze, the smell on salt in the air and the presence of being in Big Sur California is a must for anyone that has never been there.

Robert "Vegas Bob" Swetz have been visiting Big Sur California since the late 70's when he first started traveling as a teenager.
Big Sur California is by far one of Vegas Bob's favorite places next to Luguna Beach, Redwoods in NorCal 100 mile south of the Oregon border, Lake Tahoe just to name a few.
What Robert Swetz loves most about the Big Sur area in the steep cliffs, aqua-colored waters and the feeling of an area that really hasn't been touched people.




Big Sur California is like stepping back in time, 50-100 years with very few homes, very few businesses and an area full of wild life.
For anyone that has had the chance to visit Big Sur California you know exactly what I'm talking about, and for (anyone) that hasn't been to Big Sur ... "shame on you"!
When a people visit Big Sur and actually spend some time there without just driving through, they take photos and talk about it's beauty to family and friends.
The beauty of Big Sur sets in peoples minds for weeks, days, months and years after their visit.
These photos and video on this post are 4-5 years old and it's about time that Vegas Bob takes more photos because these just aren't doing it for me anymore.

For anyone that has been to BIG SUR California these photos and video are going to bring back some great memories. And for anyone that has never been to BIG SUR California ... "Shame On You" and what are you waiting for?

Robert Vegas Bob Swetz had the privilege to once again visit one of his favorite places along the pacific coast today and here are several photos that I took along the way.

Along with a video that I took several years ago when I was in BIG SUR. This video footage of BIG SUR was loaded up to YouTube and I am not very impressed with YouTube because the actual video blows away the one I presented here on the post. Unless you (PAY) YouTube money for High Definition video all you get is this low definition one. The actual video I took of BIG SUR was taken with a $6000 dollar video camera and it is tucked away in my video library along with 100's of other videos.

I guess you get what you pay for!

So for anyone that hasn't ever been to visit BIG SUR I would suggest you put it in your 'Bucket List' along with a visit to Carmel, Monterey Bay and some other wonderful places north of BIG SUR.

Vegas Bob has been visiting BIG SUR since he was a teenager and still continues to this day because once you've actually been to BIG SUR and viewed it's beauty live and close-up you will be taken away ...

Las Selva Beach located south of Santa Cruz and Capitola is one of VB's favorite next to Half Moon Bay, Carmel, Monterey and Big Sur.

What VB likes about La Selva Beach is ...

It's located less than 30 miles from where he is staying in Morgan Hill.

Most of the people that go to La Selva Beach are locals.

La Selva Beach has very few people and very quiet.

Quietness is what VB is searching for when he is hanging around the Pacific Coast ;o)

Largest Buddha Statue in America United States California Robert Swetz

 Robert Swetz is in the process of purchasing approx 200-1000 acres of vacant land in California between San Francisco and Santa Barbara. Robert Swetz has found some acreage in 2 different areas and will know more about the details in the weeks to come.
 Robert's plans are to build a HUGE Buddhist Monastery with the largest Buddha Statue in North America/ United States. The Buddha Statue will be built upon a high bluff looking towards the Pacific Ocean.
 Robert Swetz also plans on building a home for his family and will live on the acreage for 6 months every year.
 The reason Mr Swetz is planning on building a Buddhist Monastery is because he respects the Buddha religion. Also Mr Swetz has some very large investments that he feels produced "Pennies from Heaven" so Mr Swetz wants to give back which in turn will create "Great Karma" for Mr Swetz's life ;o)
